milton academy - health center studies
milton academy was pressed to relocate its existing student health center to make room for a new science center, and directed us to design a budget-sensitive building that would fit into a site set between academic buildings and faculty housing. architecturally, our design seeks to make a transition between the two.
residential materials coupled with more institutional detailing and a slight change in axis at the entry help the new building bridge together the two disparate aspects of the 210 year-old campus. the simplicity of form and plan address budget constraints while satisfying function. details inside and out provide architectural interest for an otherwise simple single story box, and most importantly create a sense of warmth and comfort for students in need.
